Delight, Smiles As Matiang’i Makes Shopping Stroll In Kitui With Locals
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has created excitement among Kitui people just days after announcing his candidacy for president in 2027.
Matiang’i toured the Eastern half of the country on Friday after visiting Katulani village to express his condolences to the family of his bodyguard Christopher Wambua, who died in September.
Wambua had been Matiangi’s bodyguard for ten years.
The former CS made stops in several parts of the county, interacting with villagers and hawkers along the Kitui-Machakos road.
Photos shared on X show Matiang’i surrounded by swarms of local shopkeepers and mama mbogas.

Matiang’i’s visit to Ukambani, an area seen as Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s backyard, appears to have sparked political tensions since the latter announced presidential ambition.
