CS Mutua’s Allies Turn Down Proposal To Ditch MCC Party For UDA
Cracks in the connection between Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap and the UDA Party were exposed once more when a group of MCAs rejected the idea of merging the two parties.
The MCAs, led by Minority Leader Judas Mbili Ndawa, denied that the Mutua-led party was attempting to unite to acquire more influence, notably in the Ukambani region.
“Chap Chap is a party that stands on its own,” Ndawa said. “We have 12 members in the National Assembly. We are not a small party as in the Ukambani region, we are second to the Wiper Party.”
He added, “There are some individuals who were pushing to have this party disbanded. Let me make it clear that we have not had any meeting to discuss any merger.”
The Maendeleo Chap Chap MCAs targeted Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Kawaya, who had lately delivered a harsh ultimatum to Maendeleo Chap Chap Party chairman Alfred Mutua.

On January 25, Kawaya aggressively asked Mutua to join his party with the government’s United Democratic Alliance or face impeachment.
“I want to assure you. We are monitoring you as a party. Some of these characters are using these positions to fight for their interests. Things will not be business as usual,” Hawaya stated.
Kawaya went on to inform Mutua that he needed to join a merger to prove his support for the President or risk losing his post as Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary.
“If indeed he supports the president fully, there is no reason why a party that has two people will fail to fold if a bigger party like Musalia’s did so just the other day,” Kawaya added.

With political temperatures in the country rising in recent weeks, discussion of new political allegiances has sparked conflicts among allies.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has established a new partnership with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who is widely regarded as President Ruto’s main political foe.
Kalonzo’s newfound friendship with Gachagua, based on shared interest, sparked ripples in the Ukambani region, which is considered a swing region during elections.
