Gachagua Meets Mount Kenya Aspirants Prepared To Overthrow Ruto’s Allies

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has escalated his political plans for 2027, meeting with various candidates who want to oppose his former boss, William Ruto, and his allies.

Gachagua has warned that those MPs and senators who voted to impeach him last year will be voted out in 2027.

Several hopefuls hoping to join his yet-to-be-launched political organization have paid visits to his Wamunyoro house to swear their allegiance.

Gachagua met with a group of 2027 aspirants from Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, and Meru counties on Thursday to lay the groundwork for a response to his detractors.

The former DP claimed on his X account that the meeting was part of ‘our ongoing engagement with stakeholders from different parts of the region’.

Gachagua stated that he listened to their perspectives on including community members in local decision-making processes.

According to him, the purpose of these sessions is to identify how leaders can instill in grassroots communities a sense of ownership and responsibility for programs and policies that affect them.

“Very unique perspectives and insights were brought to the table by this team,” Gachagua noted.

City lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, who is purportedly running for the Kirinyaga Senatorial seat, was among the aspirants who attended the meeting.

Others were Robert Mburunga (Tigania East Constituency), David Karithi (Tigania West Constituency), Wanjiku Lui (Gatundu South Constituency), and Councillor Kariithi (Chinga Ward, Othaya).

Hellen Kigia (Murang’a County) and John Njomo (Ndia Constituency) were also there.

Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia, a close supporter of Gachagua, was also in attendance.

The Thursday meeting came after Gachagua hosted chosen bishops and pastors at his Wamunyoro home.

He added that he has profited from their spiritual insights into many national issues.

The former DP stated that he sought their feedback on “what the ground is saying regarding the direction we should take as a nation.”

Speaking recently in Nanyuki, Gachagua threatened that all Mount Kenya MPs, senators, and governors “who do not listen to the ground” will be defeated in 2027.

“But they still have time to change and stand with the people so that history does not judge them harshly,” Gachagua said during a church service.
