‘We are Not Flower Girls!’ – Ruto CS Tells Gachagua
Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome chastised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for calling Cabinet secretaries ‘flower girls’.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the South B contemporary market, Wahome stated that while it is his responsibility to criticise the administration, Gachagua and all other critics must do so with respect and dignity.
She went on to clarify that the Cabinet is made up of both men and women and referring to them as flower girls is disrespectful to all of the guys who serve in the Cabinet.
The Cabinet Secretary reaffirmed that she has no issues with the former DP.

“The work of a Cabinet Secretary is not politics but I urge those in the opposition, criticise government but remember we have male and female CSs,” Wahome said.
“A name like flower girls is not a good name. Let’s respect one another. I have no problem with the former Deputy President and I respect him.”
She was reacting to Gachagua, who spoke on Monday at the opening of the DAP-K party headquarters.
Gachagua claimed that he was the only one capable of standing up to President William Ruto and telling him when he was incorrect in Cabinet.
The former DP also said that all of the others were ‘flower girls’ whose responsibilities were to ‘praise and worship’ anything the President said, even if it was incorrect.
“The government that he leads is a one-man show. All those ministers you see there are flower girls,” Gachagua alleged.

“I was the only man in Cabinet who could tell him this is not right. It is a praise and worship cabinet and I was the only one who could not fit in.”
CS Wahome reminded Gachagua and the other critics that the current administration still has almost two years to carry out its agenda.

She went on to say that all they needed to do was constantly tell the Kenyan people the truth.
“We have work two and a half years of work left before we go to elections and I want them to allow the truth and talk about what is true,” she said.
The CS also asked Kenyans to be smart and able to distinguish between politics and the truth so that they are not misled by detractors of the state.
She urged that Kenya should move forward as a united country.
