UPDATE: KNEC Gives Time-Framed Directive On 2025 KPSEA Registration

Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chairperson David Njengere has directed all school principals to ensure that all Grade 6 candidates are enrolled again through the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) site.

The KNEC Chairperson said on Friday that candidate registration for the KPSEA tests scheduled for November has already begun, with a February 28 deadline.

Schools who want to register their candidates must log into the KNEC Competency Based Assessment (CBA) portal using their assessment center log-in credentials, such as username and password.

The KPSEA portal is a web-based system designed solely for the registration of Grade 6 students.

The system has an audit trail to capture actions taken by users for accountability to ensure data integrity.

Meanwhile, Njengere asked school administrators to amend their students’ information within the stated time frame.

According to the KNEC chairperson, candidates’ data can be corrected during registration, but only if applicable.

School principals were urged to ensure that applicants’ names were spelled correctly, as specified on their birth certificates, in order for the data to be submitted accurately.

Furthermore, school administrators must guarantee that other important information, such as a candidate’s gender, year of birth, citizenship, religious education options, and disability status, are included in the registration process.

Disability options must be chosen, such as “None” for those without any mentioned disabilities or the appropriate category—such as blind, low vision, deaf, or physical disabilities—for students with such conditions.

When a learner’s details are successfully saved, the device’s screen will display the confirmation message “KPSEA Learner details amended successfully”.

To remove a candidate’s name from the list, school administrators were urged to click the “remove” button; a pop-up message reading “Learner Removed from KPSEA registration successfully!” will appear.

While advising instructors, Njengere warned school principals against presenting ineligible candidates for the November exams.

According to the head of the examination council, registering ghost candidates constitutes assessment malpractice and may result in consequences, including the school’s deregistration as a KNEC assessment centre.
