Raila Junior Breaks Silence On Viral Kilgoris Footage, Terms It ‘Misleading’
Raila Odinga Junior has issued a formal clarification on the viral Kilgoris video that has been making rounds, terming it misleading.
The clip, which shows him addressing a crowd through a wire fence, stirred fresh conversation online, particularly on the country’s widening economic and political divide.
The footage emerged after the invite-only traditional wedding, popularly known as Koito, of President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, to Isaya Yunge in Kilgoris, Narok County.
However, at the ceremony only dignitaries celebrated inside while residents watched from outside on August 8.
In the clip, Raila Junior can be heard telling the crowd, “Let’s sit down and bring development here.”
Before adding, “We will sit and see what the problem of Kenyans is, including the problem of the people on the ground, and not the problems of the people on the top.”
According to his statement made on August 11, the scene did not unfold at the President’s private residence, as many social media users had assumed.
Instead, he explained, the interaction took place at the public airstrip in Kilgoris, a detail he felt had been lost in the online frenzy.
Raila Junior stated that he had just alighted from the aircraft when a group of locals recognised him and called him over for a greeting.
“For clarity, this was not at the President’s private home. It took place at the public airstrip in Kilgoris,” Raila Junior stated.

Adding, “As I alighted from the aircraft, a group of wananchi who recognised me waved me over and asked to greet me.”
He described the fence in question as nothing more than a standard safety barrier meant to protect the aircraft landing area, not a symbol of exclusion.
“The fence is a standard safety barrier that protects the landing area for aircraft,” Raila Junior stated.
He noted that he was genuinely pleased by how closely netizens have been following his movements, calling their attention to detail impressive.
Raila Junior went on to promise Kenyans more frequent updates on his activities going forward, a nod to the online community keeping tabs on him.
He recently hinted at vying for a parliamentary seat in next year’s general elections.
