‘I Couldn’t Be Allowed In Tanzania!’ – Babu Owino Reveals Being on Interpol’s Most Wanted List
Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino claims to be a wanted individual who has been added to the Republic of Tanzania’s Interpol Most Wanted list.
In a recent interview, the MP described how one of his recent trips to Tanzania was hampered by a three-hour delay at the hands of the country’s immigration officials.
According to Babu, he entered the nation as normal, unaware that his name was on the country’s Interpol list of most wanted men.
While at the airport, immigration agents scanned his passport and discovered he was sought in the country.
“The other day, I went to Tanzania, and when I arrived at the Dar es Salaam airport and provided my passport to be cleared by the immigration, I was shocked to see my name listed as one of the people on the Interpol wanted list,” Owino revealed.
“I couldn’t be allowed to get inside Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania; I was detained at the airport for three hours,” the MP continued.

The MP went on to reveal that he was also barred from visiting Uganda and chastised the authorities of these countries for encouraging division rather than togetherness among their citizens.
According to Babu, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu owes him an apology.
He questioned the justification for his travel limitations, claiming that he had no economic interests in Tanzania but appreciated the country’s policies.
“So unfortunate how Tanzania Government put me on the Most Wanted Interpol List. President Suluhu owes me an apology,” the MP stated.
Babu Owino has long been on the blacklist of regional leaders for his provocative remarks about them.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni accused Babu Owino of backing his opponents during a visit to the country in August 2024 to launch Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson bid.
Museveni revealed that, based on intelligence assessments, Babu was working with Uganda’s anti-ruling party activists.
“I am a consumer of intelligence services, so I always see intelligence service reports. There is a character called Babu,” Museveni said at the time.
“I always see Babu dealing with anti-NRM groups. I have never accused him, but now I am accusing him.”
