‘Usituvuruge!’ – Ruto Allies Go After CS Muturi, Call For His Resignation

Aden Duale, the Environment Cabinet Secretary, and several ruling UDA members have asked for the resignation of Justin Muturi, his Public Service counterpart.

Their calls coincide with Muturi’s emergence as the only Cabinet member speaking out against the government’s incapacity to put an end to the country’s kidnapping and killing pandemic.

The former Attorney General encouraged President William Ruto to press the brakes, warning that the current quo risked harming the country’s credibility.

He has emerged as the lone voice in Cabinet, openly critical of the administration and the appointing authority, in particular his boss, President William Ruto, and has since faced a storm of political attacks.

“So, I really want to tell our colleagues, and we must respect, and if you are very unhappy and you are a CS, the best thing for you to do is to resign,” said Duale.

“It is not fair for you to engage in a very unhealthy, inappropriate altercation with your appointing authority, the president.”

Kipkelion East MP Joseph Cherorot added, “Tunaona Muturi anatupiga sana, anapiga serikali ambayo anakulia, my advise to you, just resign and leave us alone na asivuruge wenzetu.”

Muturi faced calls to resign in Mandera County. On his home turf, a similar song sheet was deployed, with ruling-party MPs asking for resignation.

Environment CS Aden Duale expressed similar comments during a separate ceremony in Garissa County.

Muturi reiterated his criticism on Friday, urging President Ruto to put a halt to abductions during a visit to Nairobi Funeral Home.

This followed the finding of one of the bodies of the Mlolongo Four, who went missing in December 2024.

CS Muturi decried the increase in enforced disappearances since June 2024, prompting criticism from ruling-party lawmakers.
