‘That Is Overstretched Political Witch Hunt!’ – Mudavadi Slams Kalonzo Over DRC Remarks
Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary, has chastised Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for recent remarks accusing Kenya of involvement in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) conflict.
Mudavadi said it was unfortunate that a politician of Kalonzo’s prominence would make such remarks.
“Kalonzo’s attempt to seek to link President Ruto with the issues in DRC is not only an attempt to overstretch his political witch hunt for the Head of State but also reckless, especially for a leader who served for a long time as a Minister of Foreign Affairs and was supposed to understand better the DRC dynamics,” he said.

The Prime CS stated that the difficulties afflicting the DRC are long-standing and have been addressed by prior regional leaders since the 1960s.
Mudavadi stated that Kenya has no involvement in the conflict other than its desire for peace and stability in the East African country.
“The crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has nothing to do with Kenya or its leadership. We do not share borders nor do we have any interest in DRC other than peace, stability, and prosperity for its people.
“It is therefore regrettable that Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in a clip doing rounds in social media insinuates that President William Ruto is part of the problem in the crisis in DRC,” he added.
A few days ago, Kalonzo attacked President William Ruto’s work in DRC peace talks, claiming Ruto had failed to back Uhuru, his former employer, when he was the East African Community’s peace envoy.

“When Ruto took over, the mistake he made was removing Uhuru Kenyatta as the chief mediator,” Kalonzo stated.
“He refused to facilitate him and the whole thing went to Angola. How does Ruto think he can solve the DRC crisis yet he has failed in Kenya?”
The situation in the DRC deteriorated around two weeks ago, when the M23 rebel group gained control of the city of Goma in Eastern DRC.
Their win followed intense fire battles with the DRC army.
