
Fire Razes Through Several Shops In An Afternoon Incident In Nairobi
A mystery fire erupted on Friday, February 7, inside a tyre shop in Nairobi’s Eastleigh Estate, damaging various things, including unused tires.
According to reports, the fire began shortly after noon on Eastleigh’s General Waruingi Street, opposite Pumwani Maternity Hospital. It immediately spread to nearby structures, causing more damage.

Locals watched from a distance as videos and photographs from the site showed them rushing to save property from the burning structures.
As rescuers battled to suppress the fire, footage showed at least three buildings covered in thick smoke.
Firefighters from the Nairobi County Government came moments later and were able to put out the fire, however, goods of an unknown value had been lost.

Two ambulances were dispatched to the area to treat the injured, although the precise number of casualties is unknown, with police officers seen attempting to contain the building throng.
Meanwhile, the origin of the fire has yet to be determined, despite various hypotheses by residents on what caused the blaze.
The most recent event increases the number of fire incidents registered across the country since the beginning of the year.

In a similar instance, a fire destroyed many residences, leaving 19 families homeless.
The event, which occurred on January 28, in Kericho Town, began when a fire broke out in one of the residences located close to the National Bank Office minutes before midnight and spread to other buildings.

The Kenya Red Cross Society confirmed the incident, stating that it had dispatched a rescue team to the scene and that one person had already been rescued.
“A fire has broken out at a residential area near National Bank in Kericho County. Efforts to contain it are currently underway,” the Kenya Red Cross revealed moments after the fire broke out.
“One person was stabilized on-site for smoke inhalation and 19 households were affected. The Kenya Red Cross will assess needs for possible support today.”
However, the fire was extinguished by the Kericho County Fire Brigade, with assistance from the Kenya Red Cross, Kenya Police, and community members.
