Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua met with Kirinyaga county authorities on Saturday in a planned effort to strengthen his base of support.

The meeting, which followed a similar one with several lawyers in the morning, was place at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri.

Senator James Murango of Kirinyaga and women representative Njeri Maina were in attendance.

Some MCAs were also there, including David Mathenge (Baragwi Ward), Kinyua Wangui (Mutira Ward), Moses Maina (Kanyekini Ward), Eric Muchina (Kerugoya), Beatrice Mitaro (Wamumu), and Daisy Githinji (Kabage Ward).

During the discussion, Gachagua stated that they discussed the predominant local feeling throughout the county as well as the people’s hopes for current national developments.

“They also shared their proposals on what we should do as we plan onwards,” he stated.

While Gachagua has yet to reveal his political aspirations, his meetings with leaders from throughout the country are viewed as a tactic to increase his influence on Mt Kenya and throughout the country.

On Saturday morning, the former deputy president met with a group of attorneys from the Law Society of Kenya.
