A group of Kenyans gathered outside the African Union offices in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday to perform praise songs for Raila Odinga ahead of the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship election.
The team, which included a number of Nairobi MCAs, expressed support for Raila, Kenya’s nominee for AUC presidency.
“Tawala Africa, Tawala! Raila Odinga, tawala Africa, tawala!” they sang enthusiastically ahead of the Saturday poll.

Several Kenyan leaders, including MPs, governors, and senators, have traveled to Addis Abeba to express moral support for Raila as heads of state prepare to elect the next AUC chair.
Raila has already arrived in Addis Ababa for Saturday’s do-or-die election.
On Thursday, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula announced that more than 40 MPs had requested approval to travel to the AUC election.
However, he stated that the government will only reimburse the travel expenditures of four legislators.
They are Nelson Koech (Belgut MP and Chairperson of the Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee) and Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta Woman Representative and Chairperson of the Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee).
Others include Bashir Abdullahi (Mandera North MP and Vice Chairperson of the Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee) and Millie Odhiambo (Suba North MP and Minority Whip).

“I am also aware that other Members will be travelling in their private capacity as leaders and citizens of this country, in support of Raila Odinga’s candidature,” Wetang’ula told Parliament.
According to reports, some county assembly speakers and MCAs, mainly those from Raila’s strongholds, have arrived in Addis Ababa ahead of the vote.
Hotels in Addis Ababa are said to be fully filled, with many guests from Kenya who have traveled for the occasion.
Raila will face two key opponents in the AUC election on Saturday, where at least 49 leaders of state and administration have convened for the 38th Ordinary Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
