Governor Kihika Hits Back At Senator Keroche Over Recent Protesters In Nakuru

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has condemned county Senator Tabitha Karanja Keroche, accusing her of orchestrating a wave of local demonstrations against her administration.

Kihika, in a statement issued through County Secretary Dr. Samwel Mwaura, said that the recent rally in Olenguruone about the poor state of the road and alleged poor maternal services was staged.

She maintained that Senator Keroche planned to tarnish the county government’s reputation.

Mwaura stated that the delay in road construction was caused by the Kenya Tea Development Agency’s (KTDA) delayed distribution of tea cess funds, which could have been used to complete the job.

“Through the efforts of our Governor, KTDA last year agreed to submit Ksh.66.8million in four installments and so far we have received Ksh.33.4 million which would help so much in addressing the challenges of roads in Tinet, Amalo and Kiptagich roads,” said the County Secretary.

Dr. Alex Langat, Mosop Ward MCA, and her Nominated counterpart, Leah Serem, chastised Senator Keroche for her remarks about the inadequacy of maternal health services and her disparagement of the Governor, who went abroad to deliver her kid.

They said that the Senator has not assisted the county administration in advancing her development program, but has instead been at odds with the county government while failing to carry out her constitutional duties.

Governor Kihika has come under fire for the county’s deteriorating health-care infrastructure.

Residents have also complained about the absence of medical facilities at hospitals, as well as the low quality of services provided.
