Ken Mijungu Fired By TV47 Barely A Month After Landing The Job

Renowned television anchor Ken Mijungu has left Cape Media’s TV47, less than a month after his highly publicized entrance at the Muthaiga North Road station.

According to a letter signed by Cape Media HR Lilian Makandi on February 22, Mijungu’s resignation occurred after management approved his request for an early contract termination, which he submitted just days after joining TV47.

Mijungu formally wrote to management on Friday, February 21, requesting time off to reflect on his experience with the organization.

”We acknowledge receipt of your email dated February 21, 2025, in which you requested time off to reflect on your engagement with the company,” the letter read in part.

”Having considered the matter, Management has taken the decision to revoke the Service  Agreement dated January 31, 2025. This decision takes effect from February 22, 2025.”

However, in her letter, Cape Media CEO Makandi wished Mijungu well and stated that the station would be delighted to collaborate with him if he reconsidered his decision.

We attempted to reach Mijungu for comment, but he did not respond to our queries.

“This development notwithstanding, we shall be pleased to engage with you on future possibilities. The management wishes you the best in your future endeavours,” the letter added.

Mijungu joined TV47 in January 2025, just days after announcing his retirement from Standard Group’s KTN, where he worked for four years.
