Raila Calls Out Ruto’s Gov’t Over SHA Rollout After Consultative Meeting
On Thursday, February 27, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga started his consultation trip in the Nyanza Region, seeking public feedback on his party’s next move.
Raila met with youth leaders, elders, the business community, and stakeholders in Migori County for a consultative session to learn about the difficulties that Kenyans are facing.

Addressing the audience, the former Azimio leader highlighted his unhappiness with the government’s unwillingness to solve the issues at the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Odinga said that the current health insurance policy implemented by President William Ruto’s administration last year prevented thousands of Kenyans from receiving medical care.
The former Prime Minister also asked the government to solve the issues in SHA by addressing system flaws to provide seamless access to health services.
Nonetheless, Odinga repeated his desire to formalise the broad-based government with President Ruto, but only if the government agreed to alleviate Kenyans’ complaints.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader stated that he will bring the people’s issues to Ruto once his consultative trip across the country was completed.
“I have listened carefully to the opinions that have been expressed here, and I can say these people have given me a blank cheque, I can write any amount in it,” Odinga commented.
“They have said they have faith in what we are going to do and they will support what we want to do, we are not going to betray our people, what we do must be what is done in the best interest of Kenyans,” he added.

During the consultative forum in Kisumu, Odinga met with youth leaders from the eight sub-counties as well as Kisumu County ODM executives.
The Kisumu meeting came immediately after Odinga met with President Ruto at State House in Mombasa, where the two leaders discussed a number of important national concerns.
Raila announced shortly after seeing Ruto that he will soon meet with his supporters to discuss his future steps.
He went on to praise Ruto for his support in his quest for Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).
