‘Their Agenda And Manifesto Are Just Ruto!’ – Ruto Hits Out At Karua’s Party Launch
President William Ruto has responded to opposition leaders who attended Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP) launch in Meru County.
Ruto accused them of hijacking the event to make nasty remarks about him.
Speaking in Taita Taveta County on Friday, February 28, Ruto chastised the opposition for allegedly diverting the focus of their meeting from discussing their political program to attacking his government.
Ruto questioned the motives of Karua, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Kalonzo Musyoka, all of whom attended the party’s debut.
President Ruto chastised the opposition leaders for reportedly devoting more time to criticizing him rather than focusing on the main goal of their discussion.
He urged them to focus productive talks about Kenyans’ needs over partisan attacks.

“I saw some people trying to launch a political party yesterday. They spoke for four hours about William Ruto. I just want to ask – was the party being created for Ruto, or is it called the Ruto Party?” Ruto said.
“Their agenda and manifesto are just Ruto. I want to tell them that I did not send them to talk about me. Look for a party, give us a name, and present a manifesto,” he added.
The Head of State further criticized the three leaders for allegedly promoting tribalism rather than addressing Kenyans’ issues and finding real answers.
According to Ruto, unless the leaders moved their focus to more essential issues, such as meaningful development concerns, they would fail politically.
“I want to tell them that the price of tribalism has gone down; they should not try to sell tribalism to us. I urge them to focus on meaningful matters, including their plan for Kenyans,” the Head of State commented.

Ruto’s remarks follow Gachagua’s remarks during Karua’s party launch, in which he criticized the president for what he called a ‘culture of lies.’

Addressing the audience on Thursday, February 27, Gachagua alleged that Ruto had duped both the elite and ordinary population into supporting him.
Even the clergy, Gachagua claimed, had universally supported Ruto’s presidential campaign in 2022.
According to the former Deputy President, Ruto destroyed the education and health systems in a record two years, raising the cost of living for many Kenyans.
“Ever since I was born, I have never seen a liar like Ruto. This man looks you straight in the eye and lies without hesitation,” the former Deputy President alleged.
