Authorities have yet to issue any statements regarding the fire. However, a group calling itself ‘Friends of the Nairobi National Park’ claims firefighters from the Kenya Wildlife Service are on the scene.
The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has warned that the dry state of most forests and grasslands makes them susceptible to bushfires.
KFS issued a statement on Thursday suspending all waste burning near meadows and woods unless expressly authorised.
