In an unexpected turn of events, activist Morara Kebaso met with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday, just days after the latter expressed interest in appointing a Gen Z deputy.

According to Kebaso, the summit in Nairobi was intended to examine important national challenges, particularly political reforms, young unemployment, and human rights concerns.

Kebaso, who rose to notoriety for uncovering ghost projects, emphasized the necessity of working with varied leaders to strengthen the youth’s voice in the fight for change.

According to a statement posted on social media, the conversations also covered economic exclusion and ways to ensure justice for victims of abuse, kidnapping, and extrajudicial killings.

He said, “I will continue to engage leaders from across the political, religious, and civic spaces in amplifying the voice of the youth in their quest for change.”

This engagement follows Kebaso’s participation with Gachagua at the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) launch in Nairobi.

The event, which took place on Thursday, also featured famous figures such as Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Gachagua has been passionate about bringing younger leaders into the political sphere.

In a recent media roundtable, he highlighted his desire to have a Gen Z deputy in his party, emphasizing that young people are not just future leaders, but leaders today.

He believes that combining his knowledge with the innovation of Generation Z will result in a more balanced approach to leadership.

“My party will involve them (Gen Z) to a very large extent in the position of deputy party leader. I’m the party leader; my deputy will be a Gen Z so that we involve them,” Gachagua told the media.

Kebaso’s actions represent a significant reversal from his previous attitude.

Three months ago, he openly declared his independence from established political parties, emphasizing his intention to forge his own path with the Inject Party.

However, recent collaborations point to a strategic realignment.

Kebaso’s participation in the PLP launch and meeting with Gachagua demonstrate a readiness to work with established politicians to advance his objectives.

This evolution shows what has been described as a pragmatic approach to accomplishing potentially substantial improvements by forming alliances across party lines.

Political observers believe Kebaso’s involvement could herald a bigger trend of youth leaders merging into mainstream politics in order to affect change from within.
