‘We Don’t Want You To Join Ruto!’ – Baringo Youths Warn Raila
Youths in Baringo County have advised Raila Odinga against teaming up with President William Ruto.
In a video uploaded by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, a group of young people implored Sifuna to tell Raila not to forge a deal with Ruto.
The group of youths spoke ahead of Raila and Ruto’s anticipated agreement to create a political coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
While posing for pictures with Sifuna, the youths said, “Tell Raila not to join Ruto.”
On Saturday, Sifuna was one of the leaders who attended Baringo Senator William Cheptumo’s funeral at Arap Cheptumo in Bartabwa, Baringo County.
The Nairobi Senator paused briefly and requested the youths to repeat their statement.
They unanimously said, “We don’t want him to join Ruto.”

The burial was attended by President Ruto and other leaders. According to Nation, Ruto is prepared to offer the former Prime Minister up to half of the Cabinet and more of the government in order to gain his support.
The majority of the agreement was reached at a midweek meeting between Ruto and Raila at State House Mombasa, and it might be publicized as soon as next week.
According to our sources, the suggested agreement was made in the presence of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, and Minority counterpart Junet Mohamed, among other leaders.
Raila has spent the better part of two days in consultative sessions in his hometowns of Western and Nyanza, promising a major announcement.
He held a series of town hall meetings to persuade his supporters that working with and supporting Ruto’s administration was in the best interests of the country at the time.
This is notwithstanding reports in ODM that Raila could be on the ticket for 2027.
Ruto has said, “We close ranks and focus on what we can do for Kenya… We need all hands on deck to be able to achieve this mission and vision.”

In response, Raila has affirmed his readiness to contribute, mentioning, “We are available to help the continent of Africa, but more importantly, we are also available for Kenya.”
All indicators point to Raila’s willingness to collaborate with Ruto in a coalition that may give him authority comparable to what he had during the coalition government of 2008.
Raila already has numerous Cabinet Secretaries in Ruto’s government, notably Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum) and John Mbadi (National Treasury and Economic Planning).
In addition, Hassan Joho (Mining and Blue Economy), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MMSMEs), and Beatrice Askul Moe (East African Community) are also former ODM leaders.
