‘I am Unapologetic!’ – Ruto Tells Critics While Gifting Ksh100M To Nairobi Church
President William Ruto sparked a frenzy among the devout at Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu on Sunday after promising them a multi-million dollar donation to help with church construction.
Ruto addressed his much-criticized church monetary gifts before taking the lectern, insisting that he will never tire of “giving to God.”
“I am a product of giving to God and I am unapologetic about giving to God and I do it on the firm foundation of the scriptures,” he told congregants.
As a result, the president announced that he will donate Ksh.20 million from his own pocket to help fund the church’s planned development and that he will make more donations during an upcoming harambee.

“I have accepted to come and do harambee together and in that harambee, I will go make arrangements with my friends we look for Ksh.100 million and bring it here,” Ruto told the crowd that had gone berserk while chanting “Ruto! Ruto!”
“We will build this church so that we shame our political enemies.”
Despite increased ridicule for providing money to churches, the president has remained committed to helping church expansion and the spread of Christianity.

Despite growing criticism from clergy and Kenyans, President Ruto has insisted that he will continue to give monetary advances to churches.
Similarly, Ruto’s government has been chastised for enabling the political elite to fundraise from pulpits in the midst of a crippling economic downturn, with charges that millions of dollars donated to churches are the result of corruption.
This even created a schism within the church, as the Archdiocese of Nairobi returned Ksh.2.8 million presented by President and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja on November 17, 2024.
The Archdiocese rejected the money raised at Soweto Catholic Church, citing Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) regulations and the Public Fundraising Appeals Bill 2024.
