In another incident, a 93-year-old man died in a fire at his home in Ngecha, Limuru.
Police stated the man was alone at the time of the incident, and his remains were discovered long after the fire was extinguished.
Kabete police commander Anthony Mbogo verified the incident involving the youngsters and stated that they are investigating it.
He stated that the children were 14, five, and two. They were all siblings.
“We are investigating to know how it happened. This is the second such incident to kill children, which we deem tragic,” he said.
The fire spread swiftly, destroying two residential houses, and the situation was compounded by the fire engine’s delayed arrival.
Residents complained about the delay and demanded an explanation from the authorities. The children’s father stated that they attempted to save the victims’ lives but were unsuccessful.
“It was a gas cylinder explosion, and I tried to save my children, but I was unable to,” Mwangi told journalists at the scene.
He went on to say that people rushed in and did everything they could to put out the fire, but it was all for nothing.
The fire department arrived after it was too late because the children had died.
The bodies were taken to the morgue. Three additional youngsters were killed in a similar incident two weeks ago in the same location.
Police said they have yet to ascertain the cause of the fire while conducting an investigation.
