Kalonzo Responds To Reports Of Planning To Join Ruto Regime
The Wiper Democratic Movement, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, has denied that it intends to join President William Ruto’s broad-based cabinet.
Wiper issued a brief statement on Wednesday morning, citing a viral social media post alleging that its former Deputy Party Leader and Daadab Member of Parliament, Farah Maalim, had advocated for the party’s integration into the government.
According to the flagged media release, Maalim, who was recently ousted from Wiper for violating party rules, expressed reservations over the party’s continued opposition status.
Why are they so panicky?

According to the false article, recent developments, such as President William Ruto’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, have created serious and inevitable concerns about the party’s future.
“Decisions affecting Wiper and the opposition have been made without broad consultation, leaving us politically adrift,” read part of the post.
“While we have given our loyalty to this movement, it is now clear that loyalty must be reciprocated with inclusion.”
It went on to add, “The people we represent deserve leadership that is decisive and pragmatic. If the space for opposition continues to shrink and the party remains directionless, we must explore new avenues.”
The deceptive tweet also claimed that the opposition party was willing to engage in talks with Ruto’s administration in order to ensure a better future for its followers.
The Wiper party denounced the press release as false, claiming that Maalim was no longer a party official after being expelled for reportedly uttering insulting remarks about Kenyans.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Farah Maalim, who until now served as Wiper’s deputy leader, stands expelled for violating the Constitution, infringing on the rights of Kenyans, and making offensive remarks against Kenyan mothers,” Kalonzo stated.
Kalonzo was obliged to clarify the situation when a group of Kenyans criticized the Wiper party leader for allegedly plotting to join the present dictatorship.

Meanwhile, the current development follows Kalonzo’s previous statements slamming Raila’s alliance with Ruto, describing it as a betrayal of Kenyans.
Speaking at the People’s Dialogue Festival in Nairobi on Friday, March 7, the former Vice President urged Kenyans, particularly the younger generation, to reject the recent political agreement, stating it was simply for self-interest.
“If there is no formula at the KICC showing how Kenyans are going to compensate their families and the loss of lives due to police brutality, then there is nothing that will come out of KICC other than betrayal,” Kalonzo declared.
