Police, Youths In Fierce Confrontation During Ruto’s Tour Of Kibra
President William Ruto’s motorcade was briefly disrupted on Thursday afternoon as teenagers in Kibera, Nairobi County, sought his audience.
The incident occurred when the teenagers, largely men, surged towards the head of state’s motorcade as he approached Ayany Primary School in Kibra to commission a project.
However, police officers on high alert responded promptly and began beating up the boisterous youths who had gained access to the restricted school compound.
In the footage uploaded online, armed police officers were seen hitting some of the youth as they attempted to prevent them from entering the institution.

Several citizens were injured during the altercation, with others observed fleeing the school grounds to avoid a confrontation with authorities.
Moments later, the officers closed the school entrance as the president addressed the pupils.
Nonetheless, adamant inhabitants could be seen hammering on the fence, demanding entrance to the facility.
After many efforts, the residents overwhelmed the police officers and gained entrance to the premises before heading to Ruto’s gathering.
The new development follows criticism of President Ruto’s development trip in Nairobi, which has been marred by muggings and vandalism.

Only two days ago, videos of young Kenyans stealing from people during Ruto’s tour to Mathare and Ruaraka surfaced, showing teenagers harassing shop owners and commuters.
The incident made a part of Thika Road impassable as the youngsters attacked vehicles on the busy roadway, stealing from passengers and other motorists.
However, police from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have subsequently intervened in the case, arresting five persons linked to the attacks.
According to the investigators, all of those arrested were processed and arraigned yesterday, with investigations continuing to bring additional individuals implicated in these crimes to justice.
