‘We Are Political Friends!’ – CS Muturi Reveals His Relationship With Gachagua
Justin Muturi, the Secretary of State for Public Service, has spoken out about his friendship with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Muturi claims Gachagua is not his enemy. He went on to remark that they have never been so close, yet they are merely political buddies.
He stated that their encounters were primarily at Cabinet Committees, which the former DP chaired and he attended as Attorney General at the time.
The other interactions, he added, occurred during the 2022 campaigns, when they went out to vote together.
“The former Deputy President would chair cabinet committees, and I only met him in those meetings,” Muturi said.
“He was in Kenya Kwanza; we campaigned together. He is not my enemy. He is just there. Political friends just like the other.”
His words come only hours after his party officially announced its intention to exit the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Muturi admitted to being aware of the party’s choice but did not divulge which route it was pursuing.
Previously, analysts projected Muturi’s behavior of criticizing the government as part of his exit strategy from working with President William Ruto.
Others suspected that he may be cooperating with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
When asked if he would quit, Muturi replied that it would be a cowardly gesture and that he intended to continue advocating for an end to abductions and extrajudicial killings within the administration.

After leaving the government, Gachagua has labeled himself as the Mt Kenya region’s political supremo, in addition to sustaining attacks against Ruto.
Gachagua is forming a mega-opposition alliance with various political personalities, including Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP Kenya Eugene Wamalwa, and People’s Liberation Party member Martha Karua.
Last month, opposition leaders pledged to unite behind a single candidate to challenge President Ruto in 2027.
The former Mathira MP has previously stated that he will start a new political vehicle in May to oppose President Ruto.
