Kenyans have been asked to avoid politicians who are seeking to stymie the launch of Taifa Care and instead focus on the registration process.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru stated that the individuals questioning the system had completely paid for their insurance.

“Do not listen to politicians. They are going to mislead you. They have their own covers yet they are telling you not to register,” she said.

Speaking at the launch and distribution of digital devices, Waiguru stated that Taifa Care is already revolutionising the country’s healthcare system.

The ceremony was organized by outgoing Medical Services Secretary Harry Kimtai and Presidential Economic Advisor Moses Kuria.

She said: “If they want to know if Taifa Care is working or not then they should come to Kirinyaga and see for themselves what Taifa Care agenda is doing.”

According to her, Taifa Care would improve service delivery efficiency, ensuring that all Kenyans have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare services.

“Because of the roll-out of this system I am able to monitor and analyze what is happening in hospitals on my computer,” the Governor said.

“I am able to see how many patients are visiting each of our facilities, analyse the demand and tie it up with the supplies that are required.”

Waiguru further stated that the roll-out of Taifa Care and digitisation systems has significantly helped the devolved unit to increase revenue collections in the health facilities.

“We were struggling in the collection of revenue in county health facilities where we have been collecting between Sh130 million and Sh140 million,” she said.

“However, this year we gave ourselves a target of Sh200 million and you know what, March is not even over and we have surpassed our target.”

Waiguru added that they are projecting revenue collection to reach Sh300 million by June.

“This is only possible through Taifa Care agenda and Social Health Authority (SHA) repayments,” she pointed out saying pending bills arising from SHA are now a thing of the past.

“By the way, by yesterday, SHA had paid us Sh75 million against Sh103 million.”
