Full School Bus Overturns Along Mombasa Road, Several Pupils Injured
On Tuesday morning, several students were injured in a traffic collision on the Mombasa Road in the Sabaki region of Mavoko in Machakos County.
According to witnesses, the tragedy occurred when the bus transporting students to school lost control and overturned on the slippery road.
Following the collision, a rescue crew quickly arrived and began extracting the students from the debris before transporting them to several hospitals around the Athi River.

Athi River South sub-county police commander Philis Muthoni confirmed all the children are safe.
“The children were rushed to various hospitals within Athi River. There were no fatalities,” Muthoni stated.
Muthoni said it was a self-involved road accident incident.

While the actual number of students engaged in the accident has yet to be determined, no fatalities were reported from the early morning tragedy.
Videos of the incident, uploaded on numerous social media platforms, showed the school bus lying on its side across the road, with a crowd gathered around it.
The footage also showed the school bus being heavily damaged, with smashed side mirrors, windows, and a windscreen, indicating the severity of the crash.
The accident, which occurred about 7 a.m., caused a massive traffic bottleneck along the already congested road, with several automobiles observed stopped along the highway while some attempted to avoid the developing gridlock.
