UDA Politician Hospitalized After Being Shot 4 Times
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MCA Nicholas Lorot of Burat Ward is struggling for his life after being approached and shot by an armed assailant outside the Trojan Petrol Station in Isiolo Town on Wednesday.
According to accounts, the MCA had just left a restaurant after meeting with a senior member of the Isiolo County Assembly when an armed assailant approached his vehicle and began fire on him.
During the incident, the MCA lost his thumb while attempting to deflect a gunshot with his right hand, and he received two further gunshot wounds in the same arm.

He was eventually rescued and transported to a hospital in Meru, where he is currently in stable condition.
The Isiolo County Assembly confirmed the occurrence and denounced the attackers, indicating that they were working closely with security agencies to bring the criminals to justice.
“The County Assembly of Isiolo vehemently condemns the brazen shooting of Hon. Nicholas Lorot, Member of the County Assembly for Burat Ward,” a statement from the County Assembly confirmed.
“The incident occurred near the Northern Galaxy Hotel in Isiolo Town. He was rushed to a medical facility following the attack.”
“As a legislative body, we condemn this cowardly act of violence and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to peace, safety, and justice for all,” the statement continued.
“We are working closely with security agencies and pledge our full support to ensure those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.”
Isiolo Senator Adan Fatuma Dullo took to the Senate floor to protest the event, claiming that leaders’ protection was not guaranteed.
“Nicholas Lorot was shot last evening with four bullets. Fortunately, we ensured that the situation was contained,” Dullo stated.
“This issue needs to be looked into because it happened in the middle of Isiolo CBD, in full view of security agencies.”

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo also condemned the incident and urged security forces to accelerate investigations to identify those responsible.

“I strongly condemn this heinous act and have directed security agencies to expedite investigations and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice,” Guyo stated.
“I wish Hon. Lorot a speedy recovery as he continues to receive treatment. My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and the people of Burat Ward during this difficult time.”
Lorot chairs the Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Special Programs Committee in the Isiolo County Assembly.
