Ogodo died in the early hours of Thursday, April 17, following a brief illness. Amos Aketch broke the news that the journalist had died.

In a statement lamenting Ogodo’s untimely death, Aketch stated that the journalist had lately become ill but was in good spirits on Wednesday.

According to Aketch, the journalist felt acute and severe chest discomfort at about 2:00 a.m. on Thursday while resting at home.

He notified his children, who acted quickly by ordering a cab and transporting him to Mama Lucy Hospital. He was pronounced dead when they arrived.

Ogodo also served on the Executive Board of the World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ) for six years, from 2017 to 2023.

Following his death, the Kenya Editors Guild issued a message of condolence, remembering him as an outstanding journalist.
