Last night, irate locals attacked and killed five members of the same family in Metembe village, Masimba Ward, Kisii County.

The mob suspected the family of being involved in the murder of a middle-aged man who was discovered dead a month earlier.

The family’s father and mother were among those killed. Two other family members were able to escape the attack.

In addition to the killings, the enraged villagers also torched and destroyed six houses belonging to the suspected family.

The bodies of the five victims have been taken to the mortuary at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. Meanwhile, investigations into the incident are underway.
