‘I am Not Interested In Any Gov’t Job!’ – Peter Munya Tells Ruto

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary and PNU leader Peter Munya has ruled out joining the present government.

Munya stated that his primary goal for the 2018 general elections is to reclaim the Meru governorship.

Munya, who spoke on Wednesday at a party gathering, underlined that he has no intention of taking any government job and that his main political goal is to return to county leadership.

He allayed concerns about President William Ruto offering him a job, stating that he had not been approached by anyone and that if he had, he would still decline.

“For avoidance of doubt, I am focusing on running for the Meru governor seat in the coming elections,” Munya stated.

“I want to make it very clear that I am not looking for any other job; the job I am only looking for is the Governor of Meru.”

He added: “I don’t have the time or luxury to serve in any other position. I have not been offered any other job by anyone, and even if I am offered, I will not accept.”

The party’s leader also stated that his organization remains committed to national unity and will continue to promote its original beliefs.

He also stated that the faction is preparing to run candidates across the board in the 2027 General Election.

Munya stated that PNU will be open to collaboration with like-minded parties.

However, the decision to support a joint presidential candidate or run their own will be based on similar goals.

“As PNU, our foundational values are that Kenya is one country and one nation. Anything that goes against that, PNU is always against. We intend to field candidates for each and every elective seat,” he said.

“We will be working with other parties that share in our aspirations to either field a joint candidate or field a candidate on our own.”

The former CS’s statement comes amid mounting speculation regarding party realignments ahead of the next general election.
