[LIST] Leaders Who Accompanied Ruto To China For State Visit
President William Ruto arrived in China on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, to begin his state visit to the Asian country.
After arriving at Beijing Danxing International Airport, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga was among the leaders who made news for accompanying the head of state on his five-day state visit.
Ruto was accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, as has been his custom since taking office, and China’s Transport Minister Liu Wei welcomed him to the Asian country.
Ruto traveled to China with a delegation of more than ten Kenyan authorities.
Arrived in Beijing, China, for the four-day State Visit at the invitation of His Excellency President Xi Jinping.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who also serves as Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, was among the first officials to arrive in China to prepare for Ruto’s visit.
However, in later sessions, his delegation was discovered to comprise cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, MPs, and senators.
Transport CS Davis Chirchir, his trade counterpart Lee Kinyanjui, and ICT’s William Kabogo were among those who accompanied him to several sessions in China.
Ruto’s group also included Senator Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot and his National Assembly colleague, Kimani Ichung’wah.
Nelson Koech, Member of Parliament for Belgut and Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations, was also there.

Others
Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, who rarely makes public appearances, was among Ruto’s delegation and joined him during his engagement with Kenyans living and working in China.
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei led the other delegation of top Kenyan officials on Ruto’s state visit to China.
Others were Transport PS Mohamed Daghar, TVET PS Esther Thaara Muoria, Tourism PS John Ololtuaa, Water PS Julius Korir and ICT PS.
While speaking to Kenyans in China, Ruto also praised Roselyn Njogu, Principal Secretary, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, for her contributions to Kenya’s international ambition.

Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, and Josphat Nanok, Deputy Chief of Staff, were also seen in images and videos provided by the president.
Ruto had previously visited China in October 2023 for the Third Road and Belt Forum and in September 2024 for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
President Ruto is expected to meet President Xi Jinping, and their talks are expected to centre around China’s investment in Kenya’s critical infrastructural projects.
They also aim to strengthen the Global South cooperation, regional peace and security, and other issues of global concern.
