Final Moments Of Flight Tracking From Crashed Kenyan Air Force Plane

The Kenya Air Force plane KAF 718 flew for 27 minutes before crashing on Saturday, June 14.

Furthermore, our analysis indicates that the plane was sighted in Rwanda the morning before the terrible crash.

According to FlightAware data, the plane, identified as a Grob 120A, was initially spotted near Mombasa at 11:39 a.m.

One minute later, at 11:40 a.m., it was recorded at a speed of 200 mph (321.9 km/h) at a height of 2,314 feet.

According to the flight logs, the plane that killed two Air Force pilots flew over the Likoni-Shika Adabu area, just southwest of the Mombasa mainland, along the Likoni-Kwale coastal corridor, about 8-10 kilometers inland, around 11:40 a.m.

This shows that the aircraft had already risen after takeoff and was levelling down over the southern Mombasa coastal zone.

At 11:41:58 a.m., the jet was sighted approaching the Shimba Hills National Reserve airspace in Kwale County. Approximately west of Diani Beach and southwest of the Tiwi region.

At this point, the plane’s height had dropped to 2000 feet, while its speed remained essentially constant.

It could have been preparing for training exercises or showing early indicators of the claimed “emergency.”

Approximately 15 minutes later, at 12:06pm, the jet was last seen flying at a height of 12,100 feet and a speed of 162 mph.

At this point, the plane was flying above Kinango, which is near Ndavaya, Kwale (the crash site indicated in news sources). Approximately 40 kilometers inland from Diani.

This is unusual. The altitude climbed dramatically shortly before impact, indicating either a last-minute emergency climb effort or incorrect data acquisition during the final Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B).

The aircraft then automatically transmitted its identification, position (latitude, longitude, altitude), speed, heading, and other information.

According to the flight data analyzed by this publication, the aircraft performed a series of short-haul trips this month, with the majority of them concentrated along the coast and center.
