Kenya Police FC Clinch Their First-Ever KPL Title
Kenya Police Football Club claimed their first title with a close 1-0 victory over Shabana FC on Sunday, June 15.
Brian Okoth scored the game’s sole goal, a second-half header that handed the Law Enforcers a win in a low-pressure encounter.
Going into the last game of the season, Kenya Police needed only one point to win their first Kenya Premier League title, defeating familiar rivals Gor Mahia.
The Green Army is the most successful club in the competition’s history.
Shabana, famed for their passionate fans, had a slim chance of winning the title heading into the final weeks of the season.
However, they eventually dropped out of the race and were heading against Police FC with the sole purpose of spoiling the party.
Gor Mahia will be hurting themselves for potentially missing out on an opportunity as a result of a few of dropped points in recent weeks.
Many pundits believe that the 1-1 draw with AFC Leopards on June 2 in Homa Bay sealed their destiny.
K’Ogalo defeated Ulinzi Stars 3-2 on Sunday, but it was too little, too late, as Kenya Police had done just enough to get the job done.
Kenya Police’s Premier League triumph is impressive for a variety of reasons.
Founded 11 years ago, the team has steadily risen to the top.

Nicknamed ‘Makarao’, they were promoted to the top league in 2021, but several analysts considered them as flukes who would be easily dismissed.

However, their maiden Premier League season resulted in an outstanding third-place finish in 2023-24.
Kenya Police won the FKF President’s Cup for the first time that season, securing a spot in the 2024-25 CAF Confederation Cup.
Following their victory, the Kenya Police are expected to receive many awards, including a Ksh5 million prize money and the prized trophy.
For the fist time in top flight history both the men's and women's titles have been won by the same franchise during the same season.
