GSU Truck, Matatu Collide Along Meru-Nairobi Highway, Kills One
A horrific head-on collision on the Meru-Embu highway on Saturday morning is believed to have killed one person and injured numerous others.
A General Service Unit (GSU) truck and a public service vehicle heading to Meru collided in the Kiracha district.
Both automobiles experienced substantial front-end damage, indicating the severity of the incident.
According to eyewitness accounts, the truck drove into the matatu’s lane at great speed, resulting in a devastating head-on accident.
The witness further stated that emergency crews, including police and rescue teams, were summoned to the location to assist with medical care and wreckage removal.
The injured passengers were transferred to Chuka Referral Hospital.

On the same day, a cement vehicle overturned near the slaughterhouse in Mufu, Runyenjes, on the Embu-Meru highway in the morning.
Three persons were rescued with minor injuries and taken to Kyeni Mission Hospital for treatment.
According to witnesses, traffic police remained on the scene to oversee recovery efforts and ensure the road’s safe reopening.

On June 27, a vehicle accident occurred along the Mombasa-Nairobi route in the Kiongwani district of Makueni County, killing two people and injuring three.
The accident involved a pickup truck hauling avocados to Nairobi and a fuel tanker traveling in the opposite way.
Witnesses reported that the two vehicles struck head-on, killing two people in the pickup truck on the spot.
The tanker and pickup drivers were seriously injured and taken to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital before being transferred to Makindu Level 5 Hospital.
