Uhuru Ally Warns Overspending Politicians, Predicts 2027 Loss
Kanini Kega, a former Kieni MP, believes that the easiest method to predict which politicians will lose the next election is to look at how much money they spend on campaigns.
On July 2, the former MP took to social media, claiming that spending more money on a reelection campaign was a sure sign that one was leaving.
The politician appeared to use his experience, having lost reelection in 2022, to construct a picture of the situation.
“If you are spending more money now than you did in the previous election, just know you are going home mapema. Ask me!” Kega stated.
Kega has been on the political battlefield for more than two decades, with losses and victories far outweighing his current position as East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP.

He won the Kieni MP seat in 2013 after unsuccessfully running for the same seat in the 2002 and 2007 national elections.
Kega moved up the ranks of the ruling Jubilee Party after winning, eventually becoming the National Secretary General.
In fact, Kega became a close associate of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
After two terms as Kieni MP, he lost his reelection bid against Njoroge Wainaina of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the 2022 national elections.
At the time, the ruling Jubilee party had split, with one faction backing Orange Democratic Party Leader Raila Odinga and the other joining Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance.

As a result, Kega would blame his Kieni parliamentary loss on his support for Odinga, stating that gathering Mount Kenya villagers to support the ODM leader backfired on him.
Later, leadership squabbles plagued the Jubilee Party, with Kega and Sabina Chege seizing control in what was later dubbed an ‘unconstitutional coup.’
However, a recent High Court verdict overturned the modifications, thereby robbing them of authority over the party and giving former President Uhuru Kenyatta complete power.
In November 2022, he would return to parliament after being appointed to represent Kenya in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
