CS Duale Announces Withdrawal Of Nursing Internship Posting
Nurses hoping to be posted shortly for internship programs will have to wait a little longer after Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale stated that the ministry was removing the list.
Duale told Citizen TV on Wednesday that the entire nursing internship list would be inspected after at least 19 names of students who had not completed their courses were discovered on it.
The CS stated that he had met with the National Council of Nurses (NCK) earlier in the day when the disparities were discovered, prompting the aggressive action.
He further cautioned that any individuals or institutions found responsible for including the aforementioned names on the list will face the appropriate repercussions.
This is the latest issue to engulf the health ministry since it announced the posting of over 6,000 medical interns on June 27th.
“This morning I had a meeting with the CEO, and we found out about a number of anomalies of about 19 nurses who have not completed but have been given posting letters,” he stated.
“We are withdrawing and auditing the whole list of nursing, and all the people responsible and the training institutions will have necessary action.”

Of the 6,484 posts, nurses with a bachelor’s degree received the most attention, with 2,098 interns assigned to them. This list is now anticipated to be audited in accordance with the latest directive.

“The Ministry of Health, in fulfilment of its commitment to ensure the timely deployment of interns by 1st July 2025, is pleased to announce the official posting of 6,484 healthcare interns under the 2025/2026 Internship Cohort,” a statement by the ministry read in part.
Following the release of the position, allegations emerged that the intern doctors had received letters indicating a monthly wage of Ksh46,120.
The public outcry prompted the ministry to clarify that Ksh 46,120 was only the base salary.
Adding allowances under CSG 9 / Job Group L increases the monthly salary to approximately Ksh 208,000.
It clarified that the bulk pay would range between Ksh180,000 and Ksh208,000, depending on where one was posted.
