Court Frees TikToker Kakan Maiyo On Ksh10,000 Police Bond
Kakan Maiyo, a city businessman and TikToker, was released on a police bond of Ksh10,000.
The release occurred days after a spectacular arrest by plain-clothed investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, who burst into his office and grabbed him.
On Friday, July 11, his lawyers, represented by Law Society of Kenya Vice President Mwaura Kabata, requested that the matter be abandoned because no charges were filed against the TikToker.

According to TikToker’s lawyers, the DCI officers have failed to arraign him in court, despite earlier claims that he would be presented in the Kahawa Law Courts.
The lawyers accused the DCI of completely trespassing on TikToker’s rights.
“The DCI failed to arraign him in court despite claiming that he would be presented at Kahawa Law Courts. This is a total infringement on his rights,” the lawyer said in a press statement.
According to sources, Maiyo was supposedly hauled to the Milimani Law Courts hours before his release, but he was not charged.
He was then taken to Muthaiga Police Station and freed on a Ksh10,000 police bond.
A police bond is a type of temporary release issued to someone who has been arrested, allowing them to remain free while they await their court date.
A police bond is often issued at a police station.

He also asked them to consider their own families, including their children, brothers, and sisters, when dispatched to “abduct Kenyans” for their activity.
He also has additional films reflecting on recent events, such as the death of blogger Albert Ojwang while in police detention.
