Ex-Raila Aide Lands Gov’t Job As CSs Makes KEY Appointments
Silas Jakakimba, a former adviser to Raila Odinga, has been named to the Kirinyaga University Council, as part of a series of changes made by Education CS Julius Ogamba to several university councils.
This position represents a new chapter in Jakakimba’s public-service career.
He joins Ibrahim Khamis Mutwafy, Ursula Sabina Oyatsi, and Margaret Kathambi Gitonga as new university council members.
To streamline the process, the CS changed the leadership of numerous universities across the country.

In an official Gazette Notice dated July 25, Ogamba announced a new appointment to the University of Nairobi (UoN) Council: Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha as Non-Executive Chairman.
The CS also appointed Ambassador John Kakonge, Samuel Njuguna Kimani, Jonathan Ltipalei Lodompui, and Mary Amuyunzu to the University of Namibia council.
The council appointments come at a time when the university’s leadership is facing issues.
Ogamba also made an appointment to the Moi University Council, where he appointed Mercy Ringa Njagi.
Kenyatta University’s leadership also changed when the CS named Joash Mokamba Keraita and Isaac Opuya Litali to the Kenyatta University Council.
Ogamba also re-appointed retired Major General Bashir Yusuf and Alice Waruguru Muita to the same board.
The University of Eldoret also welcomed Peter Onchari Kereri’s reappointment and the appointments of Evelyne Timpiyan Legis and Razoah Vitisia to the University of Eldoret Council.
Ogamba also made adjustments to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), re-appointing Cyrus Gituai as the Non-Executive Chairperson.
Ogamba also made parallel appointments at Laikipia, Karatina, Garissa, Egerton, Kisii, Rongo, Technical University of Kenya, South Eastern Kenya, Taita Taveta, and Murang’a universities.
University colleges such as Bomet University College, Mama Ngina, Nyandarua, and others saw modifications. Aside from Ogamba, other CSs updated several boards.
Sports CS Salim Mvurya appointed Joseph Maina Njogu to the board of the Kenya Anti-Doping Agency.

Meanwhile, Trade CS Lee Kinyajui named Dorothy Kipkoech to the board of the Kenya Anti-Doping Agency.
Brynes Mbogo was appointed as a member of the National Youth Service Council by Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku, while Health CS Aden Duale named Dabar Abdi Maalim as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Nursing Council of Kenya Board.
ICT CS William Kabogo served as Chairperson of the Media Council of Kenya, together with other members.
He also announced four new Council seats and invited applications from eligible individuals.
