Former Chief Justice David Maraga has officially entered the 2027 presidential election, establishing his campaign with the tagline “Reset. Restore. Rebuild.”

Maraga has scheduled a three-day county tour that will begin in Kirinyaga County on August 1, followed by Meru on August 2 and Isiolo on August 3.

The county visits are the start of what he calls a people-centered effort to recapture the values of justice, integrity, and servant leadership.

“See you in the great counties of Kirinyaga, Meru, and Isiolo!” Maraga declared in a rallying message posted alongside his tour itinerary.

Maraga presents himself as a reformist politician committed to restoring public trust in leadership.

He was Kenya’s 14th Chief Justice and is most known for his landmark 2017 Supreme Court decision that overturned a presidential election.

The tour, branded #ThePeopleShall, is scheduled to be the first in a series of grassroots engagements aimed at places that are typically disregarded in mainstream political activism.

The Maraga ’27 campaign is also supported by a sleek website, davidmaraga.com, which provides supporters with full information about his vision and future activities.

The program promotes openness, public involvement, and issue-based politics, all of which Maraga has continuously advocated for both on and off the bench.

On July 19, Maraga formally started his presidential campaign fundraising platform ahead of the 2027 general election.

In an earlier interview, the retired CJ stated that his campaign would be mainly funded by regular Kenyans.

“I will appeal to Kenyans to contribute to the campaigns. I’ll put in very little money, around Sh1 million or Sh2 million. I don’t have much money,” Maraga said during an interview with Citizen TV.

The internet platform allows supporters to donate by providing their name, phone number, email address, and gift amount.
