Kalonzo’s Wiper Rebrands To Wiper Patriotic Front
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has formally changed his political party’s name from the Wiper Democratic Movement to the Wiper Party Front.
Kalonzo stated that this is designed to fit with Kenya’s developing political consciousness, particularly among its youth.
During a news meeting on Friday in Westlands, Nairobi, Kalonzo stated that the decision was motivated by the desire to inject new energy into the party and adapt to the shifting national mood.
This follows youth-led rallies against the Finance Bill 2024.
“This is the party of the future, the party of the youth. We are taking into account the patriotic spirit of Gen Zs. The name change reflects a deeper shift in purpose and identity,” Kalonzo stated.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties @ORPPKenya, led by Acting Registrar Sophia Sitati, for their professionalism as we officially changed our name from the Wiper Democratic Movement to the Wiper Patriotic Front.

He stated that they believed the term “democratic” had lost its weight and significance in today’s political atmosphere, in which young Kenyans are increasingly questioning transparency, governance, and accountability.
“We realised that using the word ‘democratic’ in the party name no longer felt the same,” he said.
“It’s used loosely, yet the country continues to face challenges in safeguarding democratic values.”

The decision to change the party’s name was approved by the Wiper National Executive Council, Kalonzo said.
On Friday, the leader personally obtained a new registration certificate from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.

Kalonzo noted and thanked the Registrar of Political Parties, Sophia Sitati, for easing the changeover.
He stated that plans are underway to hold a National Delegates Congress to detail the movement’s next moves, including preparations to field candidates at all levels of government.
“We are going to expand this movement to make it countrywide. This party will field candidates everywhere in the republic,” he declared.
Kalonzo also acknowledged the constitutional right of all Kenyans to affiliate with any party, but said Wiper Party Front aims to provide a new platform of patriotism and urgency for meaningful change.
“This is a call to new energy, new voices, and renewed hope,” he said.
