NAIROBI: 37-Year-Old Woman Killed, Burned To Death In Pangani

Detectives are looking into an incident in which a 37-year-old lady was slain and her body burned in Nairobi’s Pangani neighborhood.

According to authorities, the event occurred in an apartment on the eighth floor where the dead, Shelmic Wambui Muratha, slept at the Boma Yangu Estate.

The woman’s body was discovered with stab wounds.

Following the incident, the assailant’s identity remains unknown. The motive has yet to be determined, according to authorities.

Before police and other responders arrived, neighbours on Kinshasa Road reported smoke coming from the apartment.

They then pushed the front door open and extinguished the fire when they discovered the tenant’s body lying on the floor, covered in burn scars and blood.

According to police, a close investigation revealed stab wounds on her chest.

The intruder had trashed the residence and killed the woman before setting fire to cover it up, according to authorities.

Only a few garments and a mosquito net were burned in the event before the fire was extinguished, but the assailant fled.

Police say they are investigating several leads in the murder.

Police said the body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and investigations.
