“We Have William Ruto’s Debt To Pay!” – CS Wandayi Tells Nyanza Region

Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has asked the Nyanza region to settle President William Ruto’s political debt during the 2027 general elections.

On November 21, 2025, Wandayi announced the commencement of rural electrification initiatives in Kagito, Uriri Constituency, Migori County.

The CS advised Migori County inhabitants to support and vote for President Ruto in the upcoming general election.

“You understand that we did not vote for President Ruto’s government but this time round we must ensure that we put all our votes together and vote for President Ruto,” the CS reiterated.

Wandayi reminded residents of President William Ruto’s backing for late Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential run in 2007.

The CS stated that Ruto’s campaign for Raila is a debt owed by the Nyanza region to Ruto for backing one of its own.

“In 2007 when Raila Odinga was campaigning for presidency, President Ruto stood with Raila and that is even the reason why Ruto was taken to The Hague because of ODM, Odinga and because of we the Luo community. So we have a debt to repay William Ruto,” Wandayi said.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the need for the Nyanza region to join President Ruto’s voting bloc in the upcoming elections as a means of repaying Ruto’s debt.

The CS, who is an ODM expert in broad-based administration, is one of the ODM officials advocating for the party to back President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
