Kenyan Man Mysteriously Dies In Mozambique, Hurriedly Cremated
A family in Ebusiralo, Vihiga County, is distraught following the death of a relative in Maputo, Mozambique, under mysterious circumstances.
According to family members, Robert Moses Magotsi worked as a mechanical engineer in Cape Town until his unexpected death on October 11, 2025.
Family members believe they learned of Robert’s death from his South African business partner and a woman named Wanjiku, who lived with him in Maputo.

According to accounts, he collapsed during a morning run and was confirmed dead after being transported to a local hospital.
As the family was preparing to transport his body to Nairobi for burial at his house in Kitale, Wanjiku informed them that she had incinerated the body and dumped the ashes into the Pacific Ocean.

Robert Magotsi died at his home in Maputo, Mozambique and was cremated by the "second wife" Ms. Victoria Wanjiku, a mother of 4 who had previously been married. Robert had 3… pic.twitter.com/iyuYaKZ6oD
They claim she quickly liquidated some of the engineer’s properties and even fabricated a life insurance policy for Ksh 50 million, reportedly listing herself as the beneficiary.

They stated that no arrests have been made since reporting the incident to the CID in Maputo, Mozambique.
They are now urging the Kenyan government to work with the Mozambique Republic to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death and the body’s hasty cremation without the family’s knowledge.
At the time of his demise, Robert Magotsi was working as the planning manager of Cape Town City.
He also owned 51% shares of a solar plant in Limpopo. Robert holds both Kenyan and South African Citizenship.
