Babu Owino Forced To Respond To Feud Allegations With Mama Ida Odinga
Babu Owino, the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, has denied having a falling out with relatives of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s family.
In a statement posted to his social media account on Monday, December 15, the politician stated that the family, particularly Raila Odinga’s wife, Mama Ida, has always treated him like one of their own.
Owino stated that he still has a positive relationship with other members of the Odinga family, including Winnie and Rosemary Odinga.
According to Babu, who denied reports on social media that he insulted the family, he still visits them at their house, where he is always warmly welcomed.
“Winnie Odinga is my friend, Junior is my Friend, and Rosemary is my friend too, how can I insult their only Mother?” Owino said.
“Mama Ida loves me like her own son, welcomes me home, and gives me food whenever I visit her. I can never insult such a mum. She’s been good to me, and I love her,” he added.
This comes a week after Winnie Odinga recognized Babu Owino as a family friend and loyal Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) member.
Winnie remarked on December 6 that members of the ODM party should stay united even if they “do not like each other.”
On Saturday, the EALA legislator acknowledged Babu during the burial of her aunt Beryl Odinga in Bondo.
“When we talk about unity, it means that you accept people, even those whom you don’t like, so mum, I’m borrowing your time,” Winnie said.
“But I would like a friend of mine to stand up where he is because he is one of us. That is my friend Bau Owino over there.”

The Embakasi Lawmaker responded with a social media message, thanking Winnie for mentioning his attendance at the burial.
In his post, Owino stated that some people at the burial did not want him to speak.
“Thank you, Winney Odinga. You are such a darling. You could see through their dark hearts,” the MP said in a social media post on December 7.
Owino has been in the eye of the storm since the passing of Raila Odinga, with murmurs of internal divisions in ODM.
