Jirongo’s burial drew political leaders, family members, and community figures to pay their respects to the late statesman, who was recognized for his contributions to both public service and family life.
Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary, is among the politicians in attendance.
Jirongo died on December 13 when his automobile collided with a bus transporting people from Nairobi near Karai on the Nakuru-Nairobi route.
The 64-year-old was driving his private vehicle on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway when it collided with a passenger bus.
The autopsy found that Jirongo died as a result of blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen.
According to the report, he also suffered spinal and limb injuries.
Dr. Joseph Ndung’u, a family pathologist, and Dr. Johansen Oduor, the top government pathologist, were present at the Lee Funeral Home during the exercise.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said it commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of Jirongo.
Preparations were finalised for the burial of the former MP at his Lumakanda home in Lugari constituency, Kakamega County.
