BREAKING: Another Former Western MP Has Died
Daniel Liula Khamasi, a former Shinyalu member of parliament, has died.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa confirmed Khamasi’s death, saying in a statement on Tuesday, December 30, that the former MP died in a hospital.
The governor, however, did not reveal the specific cause of the former MP’s death.
Barasa, instead, just hailed Khamasi as a dedicated public worker who was concerned with the well-being of his people and Kakamega County as a whole.
I have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Hon. Daniel Khamasi, former MP for Shinyalu.

“Hon. Khamasi was a dedicated public servant whose contribution to the development of Shinyalu and Kakamega County will be remembered,” Brasa said.
“On behalf of the people of Kakamega County, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Shinyalu. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
The former MP represented Shinyalu for ten years before stepping down in 2007. The MP was 79 years old when he died.
Khamasi’s first time in parliament occurred in 1997, when he was elected on a FORD-Kenya platform.
In 2002, he retained the Shinyalu seat as part of the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) political vehicle.
In the 2007 general election, Charles Lugano Lilechi of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) defeated the MP.
During his term in the National Assembly, the former member also acted as a temporary deputy speaker on occasion.

Preliminary reports indicate the MCA was taken ill in the days leading up to his death, and was receiving treatment up until he succumbed.
Earlier in December, the Western Kenya bloc was plunged into mourning again after the Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s nominated Member of Parliament, Denar Joseph Hamisi, passed away aged 56.
