“Sifuna Has Greatly Jeopardised ODM Party!” – Senator Oketch Claims
Migori Senator Eddy Oketch has written to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, requesting the dismissal of its Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, citing egregious misconduct.
Senator Oketch contended in a motion signed by his supporters that Sifuna had held the party’s position “to blatant and arrogant violation” of the ODM constitution.
He said that Sifuna was deemed to have resigned from the political party after allegedly promoting another political party’s ideology, interests, or policies, which violated Section 14A (1) (e) of the Political Parties Act.
Oketch also ruled that Sifuna violated the party’s code of conduct and failed to follow valid decisions made by party organs.
He noted Sifuna’s recent public pronouncements on secret ODM issues, specifically the sourcing and distribution of the party’s funding for the 2022 presidential campaign.

Sifuna hurled angry charges with Suna East MP Junet Mohamed about the handling of campaign funding during Raila Odinga’s failed 2022 presidential candidacy.
The spat has resulted in a nasty public backlash, emphasizing the party’s deepening instability following Raila’s death in 2025.
“The revelation of such confidential information which is considered an internal affair greatly jeopardizes the Party’s image and public standing,” the motion read in part.

He went on to say that Sifuna has openly disputed ODM’s engagement in the Broad-Based Government arrangement, undermining the party’s efforts to achieve its goals.
Based on the aforementioned charges, Oketch has asked for Sifuna’s immediate removal from all parliamentary leadership positions and committees.
He also wants ODM to initiate the process of removing Sifuna’s name from the party members register, calling for necessary disciplinary proceedings against him to have him expelled from the party if found culpable.
This comes as Sifuna’s political conduct has been met with harsh criticism from party members, amid split jitters within the faction, and a possible ouster from the party’s leadership.
