President William Ruto has launched the NYOTA Project Business Start-Up Capital Disbursement for six counties in the North Rift Region.
This project aims to provide funding to thousands of young people who want to start or expand their enterprises.
The scheme would distribute Ksh.235,575,000 to 9,423 youths from Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Trans-Nzoia, Turkana, and West Pokot counties.
Each beneficiary will get Ksh.25,000, with Ksh.22,000 transferred into the Pochi La Biashara Wallet to fund business activities.
However, Ksh.3,000 will be deposited into the Haba Na Haba savings account under the NSSF to promote a savings culture among young entrepreneurs.
At the launch in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, President Ruto praised the NYOTA Project as “a benchmark for transparency and inclusivity”.

Ruto noted that this provides “every young Kenyan an equal chance through a fully digitised process.”
He described the initiative as a flagship youth empowerment campaign that focuses on job creation and enterprise development, complementing other interventions.
This includes prospects related to the affordable housing project, labor exports, and the digital economy.
County governors from the beneficiary counties pledged their support for NYOTA beneficiaries.
They agreed to waive business licenses and reduce fees in order to lower the cost of doing business, as well as to offer more company development funding for future capital requirements.
