Mr Beast Picks Kibera-Based Social Media Star For Global Mission

A Kibera-based social media influencer has been chosen as one of ten global winners to accompany YouTube sensation Mr Beast.

He will take part in a big humanitarian mission in Ghana following his participation in the 2026 One Billion Followers Summit, which closes on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Dubai, UAE.

The effort, coordinated by the One Billion Followers Summit in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global effort and the Varkey Foundation, sought to spread acts of kindness around the world.

Participants were expected to do an act of kindness, share it on social media, tag Mr Beast and the One Billion Followers Summit, and provide a link to their work for consideration.

On January 10, 2026, Mr Beast stated on his Instagram account that ten designers had been chosen and announced live during the summit, earning them the opportunity to travel to Ghana with him to help build a town.

Among the chosen winners was a Nairobi influencer, Godfrey Mwamburi Wavonya, also known as ‘duty_boy_stylish’ on Instagram, who was one of the few participants from informal settlements, including Kibera.

Working with academic colleagues and internet followers, Wavonya focused on assisting disadvantaged populations, such as cooking food for street children and homeless adults in rescue centers.

Aside from food, his acts of generosity included buying clothes and shoes for homeless children and adults, restoring dignity and comfort to those in need.

Speaking after his selection, the influencer said being chosen was both humbling and motivating, describing it as proof that kindness can emerge from anywhere.

“What one man can do, two people can do better,” Wavonya said, calling for collective action rather than individual efforts.

He added that helping once is not enough and encouraged consistent support for vulnerable communities.

The influencer urged politicians, artists, and fellow content creators to use their platforms to drive positive change.

His story has since inspired many online, reinforcing the campaign’s message that, ‘simple acts of kindness, when shared, can create global impact.’
