Duale Blasts Uhuru Over ‘Handshake’ With Gachagua

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly sabotaging President William Ruto’s administration.

Speaking at a public event on Sunday, February 8, the Health Secretary stated that the previous President’s decision to support the opposition indicates that he rejects President Ruto’s program.

Duale states Ruto sees a fair division of national resources and belongs to a group of political personalities who believe in “shareholding.”

According to Duale, despite opposition, President William Ruto would not abandon his aim of ensuring national unity and equitable distribution of infrastructure development.

“People who are going after the President are doing so because they are asking why he is distributing the national cake fairly, because they believe, including the former President Uhuru Kenyatta, that they believe in shareholding,” Duale said.

“As of today, the government has everyone onboard from all corners of the country, and even the opposition is in government as well as other parties, and the president will continue with his vision, and that is why some people are feeling shaken when some regions receive developments,” he added.

Duale claimed that the former president’s attempt to create a political ‘project’ in preparation for the highly anticipated 2027 General Elections, utilizing personalities from the opposition camp, will fail, just as it did in 2022.

“In 2022, you had a project, and in 2027, I am seeing that you will have another project in 2027, but there is no problem, we will win against your project in 2027 just like we did in 2022,” Duale said.

Duale’s statement comes only days after Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party head Cleophas Malala said that the party’s head is working closely with the former Head of State.

During an interview with TV47 on Wednesday, February 3, Malala stated that it is only a matter of time before the two leaders publicly announce their ‘handshake.’

According to Malala, former Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni was also encouraged to tone down his criticism of Gachagua in order to clear the way for the two to join a political coalition.

“There is a handshake between Rigathi Gachagua and Uhuru Kenyatta. They are already working together. It is just a matter of time before the official announcement is made,” Malala said.

“That is why you saw Jeremiah Kioni, who was always abusing Gachagua, being told to calm down, and he was later replaced. We want to work together,” he added.
